l Placement: Mount 3–5 ft (1–1.5 m) high, facing South or Southeast for morning sun. Place in a
sheltered spot near flowers, away from strong wind and rain.
l Installation: Secure firmly to a tree, fence, or wall using screws or heavy-duty nails through the
back plate. Ensure it is stable and does not wobble.
l Maintenance: Avoid opening compartments to check on insects. Optionally clean out old nesting
material in late winter (February). Inspect wood annually; apply natural linseed oil if dry to extend
lifespan.
